DI Teams Successful at Regional Competition

Greenville High School Destination Imagination
teams put on a winning performance at regional
competition in Mesquite this past weekend.
"I
am so very proud of these teams," said Mrs.
Andrea Wilkinson, coordinator of the DI
program. "The kids have worked long and hard
and have been very successful."
The
Hybrid Team, consisting of J.R. Alvelo,
Anthony Coleman, Lauren Hollon, Baxter
McConnell, Jasmine Muniz, Claudia Osornio, and
Alex Underhill, earned 1st place and also won
the DaVinci Award for outstanding creativity.
The
Improv Team earned 1st place and the
Renaissance Award for outstanding engineering.
Members include Cat Hall, Spencer Harmon, Matt
Key, Alyssa Keysor, Garrett Moore, Nathan
Moorman, and Ali Phillips.
Alyssa Keysor won an individual Renaissance
Award and also earned a DI Scholarship Award.

Also
earning 1st place was the Performance Team,
which consists of members Matt Cowling, Kacie
Cummings, Taylor Jones, Katie Powell, Jason
Roszhart, Matt Virgel, and Scott Wilkinson.
3rd
place went to the Tech Team. Members are Eve
Gish, Austen Herbst, Thomas Keysor, Aaron
Petty, Shannon Roberson, Ryan Ross, and David
Thomson. They were also awarded the
Renaissance Award for outstanding engineering.
The
Structure Team, consisting of Jessica
Hernandez, Austin Lambert, Clint Moore, Kenya
Ramirez, Ana Rea, Austin Smithey, and Nathan
Wilhelm, earned 4th place and a Renaissance
Award.
Supporters from the community include JoAnn
Hall, John Underhill, Angie Gray, Jan Kaden,
Angie Cummings, Kevin Cummings, James
Kirkpatrick, Andy Auble, Kevin Tibboel, David
Gish Sr., Pud Kearns, Tom Cloutier, and Jeff
Jaco, who all volunteer as team coaches.
"I
am very glad we have the team managers who are
willing to volunteer so much of their time to
these kids and the DI program," said Mrs.
Wilkinson.
First place winners advance to state
competition at Texas Tech University in
Lubbock on April 8-9, 2005.
